The Lapwings technique for nest building is just to make a scrape in the ground and fill it with any bits of material that are to hand. It just picks up the bits and throws them over its shoulder in the direction of the nest, it then sits on the nest, turns round a few times, and job done. The male will build a number of nests and the female will chose one of them. Filmed at Venus Pool in Shropshire.
